After putzing around the Innkeeper for far too long, we failed to make our goal yesterday of Myrtle Beach. Doing so would have required riding at night, which we had tried the night before and had me singing nursery rhymes to myself.
So we stayed in a small town a few miles north and grabbed some meat at the Food Lion, where I was on cloud 9 after an 80 year old man paid my legs a nice compliment. Ed and I continue to horrify each other with what a trip like this makes one do. He's eaten every Mike and Ike on the eastern seaboard and I ordered two full dinners at a nearby ihop.
Our goal for tonight is Georgetown, a town north of Charleston, where we plan to take our next rest day. Overall, we're just glad to be on to a new state, though I must say, North Carolina has a lot going for it.

I believe today is your day off. Charlie, you guys should stop at the Sanctuary. That was a great vacation. What part of Florida is your destination? I've read the Keys, but that seems so very far. Beware of snakes and big, bad spiders when you get down there! Sounds like North Carolina was your favorite state so far. How nice of that vendor to give you guys peaches and water. Perhaps others will take pity on you, as well. Take lots of pictures.

Charlie and Ed, I am really enjoying your blog. I think you will have a much better feel for U.S. east coast geography than a lot of Americans. When we travel, unless we stop for an overnight meeting, most of us just rush through a lot of these places. It is quite a physical accomplishment and I give both of you a lot of credit.

Where are you guys? Haven't seen a posting since Sunday. Please write something soon so we know everything is fine. Sherlands were here for dinner tonight. Aunt Terry wrote a comment on Saturday, but it hasn't shown up on the blog. Taylor and I leave for TX on Thurs. Should be there by Sun. Movers are bringing her furniture on Monday so we can set up her apartment in order to have it ready for her by the end of Aug.

Hi Guys,
ReplyDeleteWhat an experience you must be having. I'm sure it's difficult but you will never forget this trip. Take lots of pix and take the time to enjoy the places you're riding thru. Take time to smell the road pizzas but don't eat them!!! Be aware of gators & snakes when you're in GA & FL.
Take care, be safe and enjoy.
Uncle Gordon
Oh yes, I totally forgot about the gators!!!! You really must be careful. Nice speaking with you today.
